The National Commissioner Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Manoma Masango has sent a strong and stern warning to all would Facata scammers.

He was speaking during the International Fraud Awareness Week Launch under the theme ‘Be aware, connect with care and be vigilant’

Masango said; “Kute imphunga yelihlatsi, the law will catch up with everyone scamming the nation and living lavishly with their hard-earned money,’’

“The number of new cases reported after the arrest of four victims. The total value they have scammed is E 143 000.00.

In addition, he said, as the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), they are honoured to be in participation in such initiatives.

He said, this campaign presents the perfect opportunity for all sectors involved in the fight against fraud and its underlying effects.

“The practitioners involved in minimizing its impact as well as champions advocating and promoting anti-fraud awareness and education, to reach out to the public and businesses susceptible to fraud and financial crimes,’’ he said.

Further in his address he revealed that, there is a total of 576 fraud related cases with a staggering value of E398, 799, 405.49 have been reported for the period from November 2023 until October 2024.

During the period under review, November 2023 to October 2024, a total of five suspects have been arrested for the commission of five successfully investigated cases out of the nine reported by the banking industry amounting to loss of over 7 E7 Million.

Manoma said at the moment, the public may be advised to also be vigilant and on the lookout for other Cyber related fraud scams that are still being perpetrated in the country.
