EFA is committed to ensuring safe environment in local football

The Eswatini Football Association is keen to create a safe environment in local football.

This was revealed by the organisation’s vice president, Polycarp Dlamini, during the opening ceremony of the Safety, Security, Safeguarding Workshop held on Monday at Sigwaca House.

“We are committed to ensuring that football remains a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for players, officials, supporters, volunteers and all stakeholders.

While football is about competition, entertainment and development, it must also be built upon a foundation of safety, respect and dignity,” he said.

Dlamini further said the course will also help the country to align itself with the international standards.

“This workshop therefore comes at a critical time as we continue to strengthen our football structures and align ourselves with international best practices and standards advocated by FIFA, CAF and other football stakeholders,” he said.

Dlamini further said the two-day course will capacitate the local participants.
“The knowledge acquired here should not remain within these walls.

It must be taken back to your clubs, regions, competitions and institutions where it can be implemented to improve football operations across the country.

Willingness to learn and a determination to implement positive change within your respective areas of responsibility,” he said.

Meanwhile, CAF instructor Humphrey Tlhobelo said he is happy to take part in the course.

“ I am pleased to be part of this course, which will improve safety measures within Eswatini football.

We commend local participants for attending the course in numbers,” he said.

The course is attended by over 30 local club representatives, including members of the EFA safety committee members such as Lucky Dube, Tengetile Ndlandla and Bongani Shiba, among others.
