Director of the Umhluma Women and Youth Foundation, Lungelo Zulu, led sessions on gender equity and the rights of widows within extended family structures.
Zulu said marital dynamics and inheritance practices are areas where rights violations frequently occur. He urged family members to uphold legal and human rights protections for women in marriage and for widows following the death of a spouse.
Both foundations emphasised that the family unit functions as the first structure for advancing human rights. “The family unit serves as the first line of defence in advancing human rights and protecting vulnerable individuals,” said Zulu. 
He stated that before wider community acceptance can occur, domestic spaces must foster understanding, dignity and care.
The Stukie Motsa Foundation and Umhluma Women and Youth Foundation commended the Lukhele family for issuing the invitation and for facilitating dialogue on the issues.
The engagement forms part of ongoing outreach by the two organisations to families, community groups and civic structures across the country.
The partnership focuses on public education, legal literacy and health guidance related to vulnerable groups.
The Lukhele gathering brought together family members from different regions of Eswatini. Organisers said the platform provided an opportunity to address issues that are often not discussed in public forums.
According to the foundations, addressing misconceptions and rights violations at the family level is necessary to reduce stigma and to improve protection for people with albinism, women and widows.
The organisations stated that education, coupled with practical support measures, is required to shift attitudes and practices within domestic settings.
