Music lovers will have to wait a little longer for one of Eswatini’s highly anticipated entertainment events after the Ocean Summer Vibes festival was postponed to October 24, 2026, due to unfavourable weather conditions.
The festival, which was scheduled to take place last Saturday at Riders Ranch in Sidvokodvo, has been postponed to a new date. The postponement was communicated by event organiser Sbu De Drum DJ, who cited the persistent rain as the reason for the decision.
“So sad we have to postpone the show because of the rain but we will have a new date,” announced Sbu De Drum DJ. While the postponement is likely to disappoint music fans who had been looking forward to the event, the organiser has assured festivalgoers that the show has not been cancelled and that a new date will be communicated.
The event had been building anticipation with a star-studded line-up featuring some of the biggest names in South African music, as well as established and emerging performers.
At the top of the bill is South African rapper Blxckie, whose rise from the South African hip-hop scene to becoming a recognised name across the continent has established him as one of the country’s prominent contemporary performers.
Joining Blxckie on the line-up is award-winning producer and DJ Maphorisa, one of the most influential figures in the modern African dance music movement.
DJ Maphorisa has played a significant role in the development and international expansion of Amapiano, working with some of the biggest names in African music and helping popularise the genre beyond South Africa.
Also scheduled to perform is Thatohatsi, whose growing profile has seen her emerge as one of the exciting voices in South African music.
The festival will also feature PCee, a familiar name among Amapiano followers.
The programme further includes Kelvin Momo, Danya Devs and musical duo Artwork Sounds. Sbu De Drum DJ, who is behind the organisation of the festival, is also expected to take to the decks.
In a previous interview, Sbu De Drum DJ explained that Ocean Summer Vibes was conceived as more than simply another music event. He said the festival was intended to celebrate culture, music and unity by bringing together people from different backgrounds through entertainment.
According to the organiser, the vision behind the event was to create an environment where people could enjoy live performances while also experiencing the social and cultural aspects associated with large-scale festivals.
The inclusion of internationally recognised performers alongside emerging talent was part of that vision.
Sbu De Drum DJ said the event was designed to showcase Eswatini as a destination capable of hosting major entertainment experiences while providing opportunities for local creatives and businesses.
