It seems the tears are still yet to fall as the people’s Papa Bushiri and his missus case has been postponed to May 10. Self-proclaimed prophet Bushiri and his wife’s bail has been set at E100 000.00 each after their hearing in the specialised commercial crimes court in Pretoria. Among the bail conditions is that the couple remains in Gauteng. Magistrate Mark van Wyk said their travel documents must remain with the state. However, if they need to travel, they would need to get written permission from investigating officers. Bushiri and wife are also not allowed to make contact with any of the witnesses.
The 35-year-old and his wife were arrested on Friday on allegations of “Fraud, money laundering and contravention of the prevention of organised crime act” were remanded in prison on Monday. The Hawks who were handling their case confirmed on Friday that the fraud case involved a foreign currency sum amounting to about E13.4 million. The money which was allegedly spirited out of the country in Bushiri’s private jet might just be the reason there has been talk of seizing all his assets.
