Floewe whose real name is Fikile Dladla-Nxumalo was born and bred in Eswatini, Manzini. She is one of the most gifted vocalists and composers in Eswatini. Her music career began in high school, having participated in the school choir. She eventually was trained as a soloist and that gave her recognition when she won Soloist of the year 1995(Evelyn Baring High).
She then auditioned for a spot in a then reputable Hip Hop group(Vamoose), they needed a female vocalist/rapper and was hired on the spot. The group was successful and performed in many events including M-Net Face of Africa Contest. In 1999, Floewe went solo and recorded an R N’ B/Pop album titled ”Be my friend” at SBIS Studios in Swaziland under the guidance of Yanza music founder Mluleki E. Dlamini, produced and mastered.
Floewe continued performing her compositions and eventually changed her genre and wrote her songs in her native language with a touch of English. Her first composition in vernacular, a song on domestic violence ”Ngilamleleni” earned her recognition from the US Embassy and UNDP when commemorating the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. With her vocal prowess, she has won the hearts of many.
She has collaborated on stage with the likes of Afro-Jazz singer, Siphokazi Maraqana, Selaelo Selota, US Hip Hop Artist Toni Blackman to name a few. Floewe has also done jingles for KFC, ILO, LUSWETI and more.
She is also the voice behind ”Lutsandvo” one of the hits on the Siyinqaba Album. She has also performed at one of Swaziland’s biggest festivals, Bushfire in collaboration with Lilanga and Temaswati Project. Her corporate clients are MTN, FNB, SRIC, SWOCGA, SWAACA, CONCO, BWYA, Nedbank, South African High Commission, Swazi Air link and Parmalat just to name few.
Her career continues to soar as she recently gave a splendid performance with her band at the Simunye Fun Fair. After performing several times at House On Fire’s Sibebe Friday Night Live events, she scored herself a performance at this year’s Bushfire Festival. Floewe will be also performing at the World Cup 2014 opening in pazil. As she takes her music to another level, she will be released her long-awaited official album titled “Mayibuye†in a few weeks.
