By: Zwelihle Sukati

Sibonisiso Dlamini, once popular radio personality and most affectionately referred to ‘Ray Boom Boom’, has passed on.

He passed on yesterday, May 20, at the Luke Commission health facility. Raymond Sibonelo Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, born August 28, 1960, leaves behind his wife, two sons, twin daughters and granddaughter. According to a statement released by the deceased’s family, ‘Ray Boom Boom’ had been a sickly person for quite a while and was under medical care by the time he took his last breath.

He was born on August 28, 1960, and joined the Swaziland Broadcasting Information Services (SBIS) in 1981 as a librarian. He was later promoted to radio disc jockey (DJ) and was famously for his shows such as ‘Teluveve’, ‘Ayigugi lengoma’, ‘Nawe unadokotela’, and his popular saying “ngumsindvoloyo”.

He worked at the radio station for 39 years and retired in August 2020.

His love for music was one of the many things his family will miss about him, his kindness, love for family and low tolerance for nonsense, reads the family statement on Dlamini’s passing on.

REST IN PEACE NKHOSI
