South African media personality, actor and entertainer Somizi Mhlongo has officially confirmed that he will host this year’s Eswatini Kota Festival, adding another high-profile name to what is shaping up to be one of the Kingdom’s biggest entertainment events of the year.
The celebrated television personality announced in a video message addressed to emaSwati, confirming that he will travel to the Kingdom for the festival scheduled for October 24, 2026. “Hello, my beautiful people.
On the 24th of October, we are in Eswatini for the Kota Festival. It’s going to be super amazing. 
And this is not AI. It’s real. We are coming to Eswatini,” said Mhlongo.
His confirmation has generated excitement among festival followers, with many welcoming the addition of one of South Africa’s most recognisable entertainment personalities to the event.
Somizi Buyani Mhlongo, born on December 23, 1972, is one of South Africa’s most accomplished entertainers.
He rose to prominence after appearing in the acclaimed 1992 musical and political film Sarafina!, which introduced him to audiences across the continent and internationally.
Beyond acting, Mhlongo has built an extensive career in television, radio, choreography and live entertainment.
He has served as lead choreographer for several major productions, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
His energetic stage presence and ability to engage large audiences have made him one of the country’s most sought-after hosts for concerts, award ceremonies and lifestyle events.
The announcement comes as organisers continue unveiling details of the festival,
which promises a combination of music, food and cultural entertainment centred around one of Southern Africa’s most popular street foods – the kota.
This year’s entertainment line-up already features an impressive collection of artists from South Africa and Eswatini.
Festival-goers can look forward to performances by amapiano sensation Young Stunna, award-winning singer Amanda Black, Afro-pop star Mlindo The Vocalist, house music producer Mörda, rapper Emtee and legendary musician Ringo Madlingozi, alongside several other celebrated performers.
Organisers say the diverse line-up has been carefully selected to appeal to audiences of different ages and musical preferences while showcasing various genres.
Activities are scheduled to begin at 10 am and continue until 10 pm, giving visitors an opportunity to enjoy live performances, food exhibitions,
family entertainment and a variety of lifestyle experiences throughout the day.
The Eswatini Kota Festival has positioned itself as more than simply a music event.
Organisers say the festival seeks to celebrate the growing popularity of the kota while creating a platform that brings together food lovers, local businesses, musicians and families in one venue.
