The Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has called on emaSwati to turn out in numbers for national cultural events, saying festivals such as Luju play a key role in showcasing the country’s identity while supporting livelihoods and the economy.
Speaking during a tour of the 8th edition of the Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival in Malkerns on Saturday, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Jiggs Thorne and Standard Bank Chief Executive Mvuselelo Fakudze.
The Prime Minister said the country’s cultural calendar demonstrates continuity in national celebrations. 
He noted that emaSwati gathered for the Bushfire Festival a few months ago and are now attending Luju.
He added that upcoming events include Umhlanga, Incwala and Emaganu.
“All of these events really show who emaSwati are,” the Prime Minister said.
He further notes that these events showcase the country’s culture from food, lifestyle to fashion.
The Prime Minister toured exhibition stalls and interacted with vendors. He commended the creativity and output of emaSwati producers, stating that the products on display reflect capability and quality.
He likened some of the products to world-class standards. “It shows how capable emaswati are when it comes to everything as they produce quality,” he said.
The Prime Minister urged attendees to consider what they gain from attending such events.
“It is within one to note what they take from such events and what they learn for their own benefit as they come to support one another,” he said.
He said the festivals also serve a social purpose. “Such events are good for relaxing and taking minds off other schedules and have some time off,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the economic role of the festival, noting that many participants depend on the sales of their products for income.
“Some are making a living out of the products they are showcasing,” he said further adding that their support help boost the economy.
He called on emaSwati to support local businesses and producers during cultural events as a means of strengthening the domestic economy.
