North Africa awaits the national Under-23 team.
Egypt will host the 2027 AFCON U-23, which will serve as a qualifier for the 2028 Olympic Games.
This was confirmed in a statement from CAF following the recent Executive Committee meeting. 
The local lads will feature in the continental qualifiers before the end of the year in their quest to qualify for the main tournament.
The tournament will see several nations battle in a two round format qualifiers and the winning teams will book their places to Egypt.
Eswatini Football Association Marketing and Communications Manager Muzi Radebe said they are still waiting for official confirmation from CAF.
“We haven’t received a formal update from CAF concerning the Under-23 championships,” he said.
The national U-23 squad is under the guidance of interim Sihlangu head coach Friday Myeni.
He is assisted by former Sihlangu goalkeeper coach Musa Manyatsi.
The U-23 squad is made up of Premier League players such as Njongo Mazibuko (Mbabane Swallows), Andiswa Malaza (Royal Leopards), and the Moneni Pirates duo of Bonkhe Masika and Sibonelo Vilakati, among others.
PLE Executive Member and Mbabane Swallows seasoned administrator Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane is the squad manager.
The U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, known for sponsorship purposes as the TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, or simply U-23 AFCON or U-23 CAN, is the quadrennial African football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football, CAF.
It is contested by national teams consisting of players under 23 years of age and was first held in 2011. The tournament also serves as Africa’s qualifier for the Olympic Games.
