King Charles III congratulates Eswatini on 58th independence

His Majesty King Charles III has extended warm congratulations to His Majesty King Mswati III and the people of Eswatini on the Kingdom’s 58th Independence Day.

In a message marking the national occasion, King Charles III said he and his wife, Queen Camilla, reflected with sincere appreciation on the enduring friendship and close partnership between the United Kingdom and Eswatini.

He described the relationship between the two countries as being rooted in mutual respect and common values, saying it continued to flourish through the strong ties between their peoples and their shared commitment to the Commonwealth.

“Our family of nations remains a source of great strength, fostering understanding, cooperation and opportunity across the world,” King Charles III said.

The British monarch also highlighted the role of the Commonwealth’s diversity and younger generations in inspiring hope and progress around the world.

He said the bonds between Commonwealth nations were particularly important at a time of global uncertainty.

“In a time of global uncertainty, the bonds that unite us are more important than ever,” he said.

King Charles III further looked ahead to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for later this year, expressing hope that the gathering would provide an opportunity for member states to reaffirm their shared commitments and work towards a prosperous future for their citizens.

He also commended Eswatini for its efforts to build resilience in response to environmental challenges and protect its natural heritage for future generations.

“I am encouraged by Eswatini’s commitment to building resilience in the face of environmental challenges and to safeguarding its natural heritage for future generations,” he said.

According to King Charles III, such efforts demonstrated the determination and responsibility required to secure a sustainable future for the world.

He concluded the message by extending his and Queen Camilla’s best wishes to the King and all emaSwati for a peaceful, prosperous and successful year ahead.
