The Eswatini delegation to the World Alliance for Disaster Management (WADM) has visited the National Fire Agency’s training centre in Taiwan as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s capacity in disaster preparedness, emergency response and humanitarian assistance.
The visit was aimed at giving the delegation an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the operations of the Taiwan Fire Agency and its approaches to managing disaster emergencies both domestically and internationally.
Eswatini has expressed interest in learning from Taiwan’s experience and adopting relevant best practices to enhance its own emergency management and disaster response systems. 
During the visit, the delegation toured the training facility and observed advanced technologies used in disaster simulation exercises.
The delegation also witnessed live demonstrations of rescue missions, providing practical insight into how Taiwan prepares for and responds to different disaster scenarios.
The demonstrations showcased the use of technology, specialised training and coordinated response mechanisms in dealing with emergencies.
The engagement also highlighted opportunities for greater cooperation between Eswatini and Taiwan through the WADM platform.
Dr Huan-Chang Hsiao said Taiwan remained open to cooperation and partnerships with member states at multiple levels, reinforcing its commitment to promoting shared resilience and collaboration in disaster management.
For Eswatini, the engagement presents opportunities to strengthen institutional knowledge and technical capacity through exchanges with Taiwan and other Alliance members.
These opportunities could include exchange learning programmes between the two countries, specialised training courses offered in Taiwan and other collaborative initiatives focused on disaster preparedness, emergency management and resilience-building.
