Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has said that defender Aden McCarthy will face a late fitness on Tuesday as the team prepares for their next encounter.

McCarthy was injured and taken out of their last Betway Premiership League encounter against Richards Bay United last Tuesday.

Addressing journalists at the Chiefs Village in Naturena, Johannesburg, on Monday morning ahead of their Betway Premiership League encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday at the FNB Stadium, Kaze said that McCarthy is just one of the few players who face the possibility of not playing against Sundowns.

“About Aden, he hasn’t trained since that day. The medical staff is working hard to get him back. We’ll assess him tomorrow to decide if he will be part of the game or not.

Besides that, we have Shinga and Cross who have been sick for the past two days. Then Ighodaro, who joined the training two days ago. Everyone else is well and ready for the game,” Kaze told journalists.

Meanwhile, the assistant coach further disclosed that Rushwin Dortley and Given Msimango are still recovering from injuries. Both players remain at least a month away from returning to the field. “Msimango and Dortley.

Those are injuries that have been so for a long time. Msimango is doing better, but its not players that we believe will be with us at least this month. Probably, Msimango, next month,” Kaze concluded.
