Eswatini Mobile rolls out VoLTE
Eswatini Mobile has taken another bold step in advancing telecommunications in the country by introducing Voice over LTE (VoLTE), becoming the first network operator in Eswatini to commercially roll out the service.
VoLTE is a modern technology that allows users to make traditional voice calls over the packet-based 4G network instead of the older circuit-based networks.
Unlike 3G calls, VoLTE delivers calls faster and with high-definition clarity by default, setting a new standard in voice communication.
For the average Eswatini Mobile user, VoLTE translates to an instant call connection and crystal-clear voice quality, often described as “near-natural sound.” More importantly, VoLTE ensures that customers can continue to browse, stream, or use apps seamlessly while on a call, something that 3G calls often interrupted.
“VoLTE enhances the customer experience by combining speed and clarity without requiring any additional devices,” said Eswatini Mobile Transmission Manager Philani Simelane.

“The service works on most Apple iPhones, and support for Samsung devices will soon follow.”
The company has assured customers that no SIM upgrade is required if their device already supports 4G. VoLTE is accessible anywhere in the country with 4G coverage,
making it a nationwide rollout. Additionally, the service comes at no extra cost, VoLTE calls are billed the same as traditional 3G voice calls and do not consume data bundles.
Customers can also make both local and international calls on VoLTE, including to numbers on other networks or non-VoLTE devices.
Eswatini Mobile emphasized that the launch of VoLTE reflects its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. “We are not just keeping up with technology, we are setting the pace in Eswatini,” Simelane noted.
Looking ahead, the operator confirmed that video calling over LTE and 5G is among the innovations in the pipeline, supported by the ongoing expansion of its 5G coverage.
According to Simelane, the company is also working to ensure that Eswatini Mobile subscribers can enjoy VoLTE while roaming in the SADC region, provided the roaming networks support the technology.
With this launch, Eswatini Mobile has positioned itself ahead of competitors, offering customers a future-ready calling experience that blends clarity, reliability, and modern convenience.
