EZULWINI – Sixteen Eswatini golfers have booked their places in the final round of the 2025 King’s Cup at Ezulwini Golf and Country Club.
After two gruelling days of play, only five of the 15 local professionals advanced joined by 11 amateurs. Leading the Eswatini professionals is James Pennington, who impressed with 3-under par. He is joined by Sifiso Vilane (+2), Jabulani Mabaso (+2), Oscar Dube (+2) and Mandla Dlamini Jnr (+3).
At the top of the overall leaderboard are South African stars Hayden Griffiths and Keenan Davidse tied on 7-under par. Both Griffiths and Davidse are chasing their second King’s Cup crown after winning it in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
Among the amateurs, Vusi Godfrey Dlamini remains the standout local after carding 69 on day one before slipping to 78 yesterday to sit on 3-over par. Hot on his heels is Machawe Maziya, who scored 76 and 72 over the last two rounds.

The tournament has so far seen 30 out of the 50 professionals and 15 of the 22 amateurs making the cut for today’s final round. It has drawn a strong international field featuring players from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia and Namibia.
The competition was officially sanctioned on Friday at a gala dinner hosted at Lozitha Palace, where His Majesty King Mswati III, the tournament’s patron, encouraged local golfers to rise to the occasion.
“I hope our golfers will work hard to win the good prize money so that their families may be happy. Let them also take advantage of the E600 000 hole-in-one prize, which I am sure may solve a lot of the winner’s problems,” said His Majesty. This year’s King’s Cup carries a sponsorship package of E3.1 million. The champion professional will pocket E240 000 while the runner-up will take home E164 350. On the amateur side, the top two finishers will earn E24 000 and E15 000, respectively.
