The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) recruitment race brought a wave of excitement to Mahlangatja Inkhundla over the weekend, where scores of young men and women showcased their athleticism in hopes of securing a place in the nation’s armed force.

In the males’ category, Ndumiso Dlamini, the energetic fullback for Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club, stole the spotlight by clinching first place.

Representing Mahlangatja Inkhundla, Dlamini demonstrated both speed and stamina, qualities that not only make him a standout on the football pitch but also positioned him as a top contender for the Defence Force.

“I gave it my all because this opportunity means a lot,” Dlamini said after the race, adding that his football background had prepared him both mentally and physically for such demanding challenges.

His win was met with loud cheers from football fans and local residents who had gathered in large numbers to watch the recruitment event unfold.

Coming in second place was Lwazi Tsela, also from Mahlangatja Inkhundla, who put up a strong performance and proved himself among the constituency’s most promising talents.

His determination throughout the 3.2-kilometer course drew admiration from both officials and supporters alike.

In the ladies’ category, Tandzile Dlamini made her constituency proud by finishing first. Her victory highlighted the strength and resilience of female competitors, further emphasizing that women are equally determined to seize opportunities offered by the Defence Force recruitment drive.

The Mahlangatja leg of the recruitment exercise was more than just a race—it was a celebration of youthful energy, national pride, and the aspiration for service.

Spectators applauded the participants for their discipline and courage, noting that the event not only identified potential recruits but also brought the community together.

The ongoing UEDF recruitment campaign, rolled out across constituencies nationwide, has drawn massive attention in recent weeks.

For many young people, winning these races goes beyond athletic achievement; it represents the possibility of meaningful employment and the honour of serving the Kingdom of Eswatini.

With stars like Ndumiso Dlamini leading the way, Mahlangatja has stamped its mark in the recruitment process, inspiring other constituencies to put forward their best as the Defence Force’s search for the strongest and most resilient candidates continues.
