Daliwonga, born Daliwonga Matiwane in Diepkloof, Soweto, has rapidly risen to prominence within the Amapiano genre. His journey began humbly as a backing vocalist, where he honed his craft and developed a distinctive poetic style paired with smooth, soulful vocals.
His breakthrough came in 2020 with the release of his debut album Chameleon, which showcased his versatility and cemented his status as a solo artist to watch.
Operating under the influential BlaqBoy Music label, founded by DJ Maphorisa, Daliwonga has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Kabza De Small and Sha Sha.
These partnerships have not only broadened his musical horizons but also contributed to the global rise of Amapiano as a genre, blending deep house, jazz, and lounge music elements into a uniquely South African sound.
