Man dies after being hit by train near Sidvokodvo

A 40-year-old man from Bulunga

area tragically lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday morning after being struck by a train along the Sidvokodvo–Phuzamoya railway line near Tibusisweni Farm.

According to a police statement issued by the Deputy Police Information and Communication Officer, Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni, the fatal incident occurred at around 02:17 a.m. on November 12, 2025.

Preliminary reports indicate that the man was on or near the railway tracks when he was hit by an oncoming train.

“The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital, where he was unfortunately certified dead upon arrival,” Mnguni said.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the accident, including whether the deceased was attempting to cross the tracks or was walking along them at the time.

Police have since appealed to members of the public to exercise caution around railway lines and to avoid walking or loitering near active train routes, especially during night hours.

The identity of the deceased has been withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
