The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in Eswatini has recently received a generous donation of five ambulances from the Republic of Korea, a significant contribution aimed at enhancing the capabilities of His Majesty’s Correctional Services.
This donation marks an important milestone in the growing diplomatic and developmental relationship between the two countries.
Pholile Shakantu, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, expressed her satisfaction with the tangible outcomes of the diplomatic ties.
She remarked that it is encouraging to witness diplomatic relations bearing fruitful results, highlighting that the delivery of the ambulances symbolises a strong commitment to improving health services and strengthening the infrastructure that supports public welfare in Eswatini.
According to Shakantu, this donation is more than just a transfer of vehicles; it represents a meaningful step forward in the partnership between Eswatini and South Korea.
The five ambulances were formally handed over by H.E. Kang Bokwon, the Republic of Korea’s ambassador to Eswatini, to Minister for Justice Prince Simelane and Commissioner General LaMakhosini.
Ambassador Kang, who had just presented his credentials to His Majesty King Mswati III the day before, immediately demonstrated his country’s dedication to supporting Eswatini’s development goals through this generous act.

Shakantu emphasised the broader significance of this collaboration, noting that the partnership between South Korea and Eswatini underscores the vital role international partnerships play in driving development.
She pointed out that South Korea, as a major development partner, brings valuable resources and expertise that align with Eswatini’s ambitions across various sectors, including health, education, governance, and agriculture.
She particularly highlighted the efforts of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), whose initiatives focus on capacity building and digitalisation, key areas for Eswatini’s modernisation and sustainable growth.
Shakantu also conveyed optimism about the future of this bilateral relationship, stating that South Korea’s ongoing commitment to aid presents great potential for expanding initiatives that enhance infrastructure, education, and technology in Eswatini.
She noted that the accessibility of Korean Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs could open doors for even more comprehensive support tailored to the country’s specific needs.
The senator stressed that this partnership not only strengthens diplomatic ties but also directly improves the lives of individuals in both Eswatini and the Republic of Korea.
She described the collaboration as an encouraging example of how international cooperation can lead to significant advancements in social and economic development.
