Eswatini-born actress and entrepreneur Amanda du Pont has donated E100,000 to Women for Change, a prominent organisation dedicated to combating gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa.

This generous contribution arrives at a critical juncture as the nation prepares for the Women’s National Shutdown on November 21, 2025, a movement demanding justice, safety, and protection for women and girls across the country.

Women for Change, founded by Sabrina Walter, has mobilised women nationwide to participate in the shutdown by changing their social media profile pictures to purple and observing a 15-minute standstill at noon on the day of the protest.

The shutdown is strategically timed just before the G20 Summit in Johannesburg and aims to honour the memory of the 15 women killed daily in South Africa due to GBV.

The movement calls for urgent government action to declare gender-based violence a national disaster, highlighting the severity of the crisis. Amanda du Pont’s significant financial support will enhance Women for Change’s ability to mobilise communities, intensify awareness campaigns, and expand vital survivor support services.

The funds will be directed towards advocacy programmes, protest organisations, and public education initiatives designed to confront the deeply entrenched and alarming GBV epidemic in the region.

In a heartfelt message shared through Women for Change, du Pont expressed unwavering solidarity with survivors of gender-based violence and reaffirmed her commitment to using her platform to amplify the voices of those affected.

Amanda du Pont’s rise to prominence is marked by her versatile career in entertainment, where she is best known for her roles in popular productions such as ‘Skeem Saam’ and the Netflix series ‘Shadow.’

Beyond acting, she has established herself as a successful model, television host, and entrepreneur, notably through her internationally recognised skincare brand, Lelive.

Her professional foundation was shaped by rigorous training at the South African School of Motion Picture and Live Performance (AFDA) and the New York Film Academy, where she honed her craft.
