South African rapper Tony Dayimane is set to headline a special event at Berachah Kitchen.
The ‘Pens Down’ event, scheduled for December 5, 2025, from 11 am to 3 pm, is set to be a powerful gathering that honours those who have completed their schooling while raising funds for charitable causes.
Tony Dayimane, born Sbongakonke Mfundo Mchunu, is rapidly reshaping the South African rap scene with his dynamic style and commanding presence.
At just 21 years old, this Durban-born artist from Umlazi has earned the nickname ‘Ivikel? Mbus?’ for his raw vernacular lyricism and larger-than-life persona.
His rise to fame began in high school when his TikTok freestyles gained widespread attention, culminating in his breakout single ‘Zulu Girl’ in 2022.
The momentum continued with the 2023 hit ‘Ifilimu,’ a collaboration with Usimaman?, which solidified his place in the industry.
In 2024,
Tony released his debut album ‘Red October: Induction,’ which made history as the third highest first-day streamed South African album on Spotify. The album earned him nominations at both the Metro FM Awards and the SAMAs.

His 2025 Big Boy EP achieved triple platinum status, followed by the release of its sequel, ‘Big Boy II.’
Mbukiso Dlamini, the event organiser, emphasised the deeper purpose behind the ‘Pens Down’ event. He explained that the show is designed as a heartfelt tribute to those who have completed their secondary education, celebrating their health and survival throughout the year.
“This event is about unity and grace from January to December,” Dlamini said. It is also a charity fundraiser aimed at supporting those in need through the ongoing efforts of Berachah Kitchen.
Dlamini further highlighted the event’s mission to tackle poverty in South Africa. “We want to conquer poverty in this country,” he stated, underscoring the importance of patience, especially among students.
“While results are essential, being patient is the key to success from January to December.”
