ETA launches domestic tourism competition
The Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) has unveiled an exciting domestic competition aimed at encouraging Emaswati to explore their own country while stimulating local tourism businesses this Easter.
Speaking at the launch of the Easter Campaign at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, ETA Chief Executive Officer Vusie Dlamini announced that the Authority has partnered with captains of the tourism industry through the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Eswatini (HOTAES) to roll out a domestic competition titled Destination Eswatini: #YourEasterAdventureAwaits.
The competition is designed to drive local travel and spending during the Easter period, while rewarding citizens who actively support tourism establishments across the Kingdom.
Under the campaign mechanics, participants are required to spend E300 or more at any registered tourism establishment, restaurant, or arts and crafts outlet.

They must then take a photo of their receipt, write their full name, cellphone number and ID number, and submit the details via WhatsApp to the designated competition number.
The competition runs from March 4-31, 2026. Dlamini explained that the initiative is not just about prizes, but about cultivating a culture of domestic travel and pride in local experiences.
“We want emaSwati to rediscover the magic within our borders. By spending locally and exploring our attractions, citizens are directly contributing to job creation, business sustainability and the preservation of our cultural heritage,” he said.
Prizes up for grabs include accommodation vouchers, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner experiences at participating establishments.
Through this incentive, ETA aims to ensure that the benefits of the Easter tourism boom are felt across hotels, lodges, restaurants, craft markets and tour operators nationwide.
Dlamini noted that while international visitor numbers continue to rise, sustainable tourism growth must also be anchored on strong local participation. “Tourism is a vital sector for Eswatini. When emaSwati travel locally, they are investing in their own communities,” he said.
