…Ex-Green Mamba mentor already in Pietermaritzburg for the ‘Black Bull’ pre-season camp

An emotional reunion!
Out of contact, Green Mamba head coach Ernest Mavuso has earnestly walked back into ‘Black Bull’ kraal.
Mavuso has joined the capital city giants, Mbabane Highlanders AM FC.
Mavuso’ s last stint with the crowd pullers was during the 2022/2023 season under the reign of South African businessman Chief Ally Kgomongwe.
He first joined Highlanders between 2014/15 during the era of recent president Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane.
A source close to the matter revealed that Mavuso left the country on Sunday morning for Pietermaritzburg.
“He has agreed to join Highlanders and is already in South Africa to meet the club president, Shauwn Mkhize, for contractual talks. He will start drilling the team on Monday together with the interim technical bench comprising of Sifiso ‘Barnes’ and Phumuza Ntshangase,” the source said.
Mavuso could not be reached for comment when compiling this report.
Highlanders acting spokesperson Charles ‘Ace’ Jele could not comment on the matter after his cellphone rang unanswered.
Highlanders AM President Shauwn Mkhize said the club would make its announcements on August 23 ,2025.
“We will unpack the latest developments in the team, including new players and coaches, during the team’s gathering that will take place on August 23, 2025,” she said.
Mavuso won several trophies with his former side, such as the MTN Premier League and SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup.
He further guided his former side to the preliminary round of the CAF champions league against Mozambique UD Songo in 2023.
