Young maidens attending the second leg of Umhlanga 2026 at Mbangweni Royal Residence are being encouraged to register to vote and understand their role in the development of Eswatini.
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has taken voter registration and civic education to the royal residence, using the national cultural gathering to reach eligible young people from different parts of the country.
EBC Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe said the Commission was engaging Imbali on what was expected of them as young people and future contributors to the country. 
He said the education included information on the electoral process, with the Commission preparing eligible Imbali to participate in the upcoming elections.
“We are engaging Imbali on what is expected of them as young people and future contributors to the country,” said Bhembe.
Bhembe said eligible Imbali and members of the public could register by bringing their personal identification cards.
The registration process uses biometric technology to capture applicants’ information, with the aim of ensuring that accurate details are recorded.
He said the Commission’s presence at Mbangweni went beyond voter registration, as it was also encouraging young maidens to recognise the positive contribution they could make towards the development of Eswatini.
Bhembe said young people needed to understand their responsibilities and the role they could play in shaping the country’s future.
The engagement comes as Imbali from different chiefdoms participated in the second leg of Umhlanga at Mbangweni Royal Residence, following the first leg held at Ludzidzini Royal Residence.
