PM joins global AI dialogue on responsible technology governance

Prime Minister Russell Dlamini has participated in high-level discussions on the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance during the Global Dialogue on AI in Geneva, Switzerland, where global leaders explored ways of ensuring that emerging technologies advance human development while addressing ethical and social concerns.
On the margins of the dialogue, the Prime Minister attended a thematic session titled “AI Opportunities and Implications: Social, Economic, Ethical, Cultural, Linguistic and Technical Dimensions,” which examined the wide-ranging impact of AI on societies, economies and institutions.

The session featured a fireside chat led by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Ms Doreen Bogdan-Martin, who engaged President of Estonia H.E. Alar Karis in a discussion on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and the importance of responsible governance frameworks.
The conversation highlighted the need for countries to embrace AI innovation while ensuring that technology remains aligned with human values, protects fundamental rights and contributes to inclusive development.
The programme further included a series of high-level panel discussions that brought together policymakers, technology experts and international stakeholders to deliberate on both the opportunities and challenges associated with AI adoption across different sectors.
Participants emphasised the importance of developing AI systems that are inclusive, ethical and human-centred, ensuring that technological advancement benefits communities while reducing inequalities.
