One swing can earn the luckiest golfer E600 000 in the upcoming King’s Cup Golf 2026.
This is the rare hole-in-one strike on the golf course straight from the swing to the hole. With a E1 million prize purse announced for this year’s King’s Cup Golf, it is yet to be revealed how much the champion will pocket. One thing is for sure, whatever the champion gets will not match the hole-in-one incentive.
King’s Cup Tournament Director Vusi Dlamini made the hole-in-one revelation during the official launch of the annual tournament last Friday. 
“Golf being the amazing sport it is, the King’s Cup Golf 2026 has a hole-in-one prize. In fact, it’s a perfect fluke that can win you E600 000, way over the tournament champion.
“We haven’t had it in the previous two editions. It is not an easy one that’s why I call it the perfect fluke,” said Dlamini.
The launch was held in Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, at the Royal Swazi Spa. In attendance was Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, the sponsors and the King’s Cup Golf Committed chaired by Sam ‘Styles’ Richards.
This is where the prize purse was revealed, with E700 000 strictly for the main competition and E300,000 for the Top 3 EmaSwati.
“This year’s tournament also reaches another historic milestone through its prize structure.
The professional prize purse has increased to an impressive E700,000 making the King’s Cup one of the region’s most attractive tournaments,” said the Minister.
In addition to the E700 000, she said another E300 000 will be available as bonuses to the Top 3 EmaSwati finishers.
“This will be in this order, E100 000 – 1st prize, E75 000 – 2nd prize, and E50 000 – 3rd prize. There are also special bonuses for our Transformational Players from neighbouring African countries,” said the minister.
Mkhonta-Simelane said this one was specifically for native golfers from outside Eswatini ‘who will feature in the tournament’.
“There will be another E35,000 pool prize, reserved for Top 3 amateur golfers in the main Pro-Am,” said Mkhonta-Simelane.
She went on to say these incentives were more than the prize money.
“They represent an investment in talent development, creating opportunities for golfers to compete at higher levels while strengthening Eswatini’s presence within the professional golfing fraternity.” said the tourism minister.
The dates for the tournament, as blessed by the King, will be September 1-2 for the Pro-Am, then the main championship from September 3-5 at the Ezulwini Golf Course.
Sponsors were also appreciated with the minister as this would not be possible without them.
Meanwhile, the King’s Golf Cup was established in 2004 to promote sports and tourism.
