The Government has backed local CAF envoys Nsingizini Hotspurs and Royal Leopards to do well in the 2025 interclub competitions.
inister of sports, culture, and youth affairs, Bongani Nzima said this ahead of the two local sides’ clashes against Simba Bhora (Zimbabwe) and Young Africans (Namibia), respectively, this weekend in the away fixtures, both scheduled for the Obed Chilume Stadium.
Nzima said this during the ministry’s event held at Esibayeni Lodge on Thursday.
Zimbabwe and Namibia do not have a stadium that meets the FIFA requirements.
Nsingizini will feature in the prestigious CAF Champions League while Leopard will compete in the Confederation Cup.
“As we celebrate these individual achievements, allow me also to shine the spotlight on our football ambassadors currently carrying the hopes of the nation in continental club competitions — Royal Leopards in the CAF Confederations Cup and Nsingizini Hotspurs in the CAF Champions League.

Gentlemen, your courage to compete on Africa’s grand stage is commendable. You are not just representing your clubs; you are carrying the aspirations of a whole nation with you,” he said.
The minister further commended the two teams for taking part in the continental assignments.
“I applaud your determination and the sacrifices you have made to reach this level. As we present podium incentives today, I am hopeful that soon we will gather again, this time to celebrate your podium finishes on the continental stage.
I urge you to remain focused, disciplined, and united as you march forward. Know that the entire nation stands behind you, and we believe in your ability to make history,” he said.
The return matches will be played at Somhlolo National Stadium before the end of the month.
This comes after the country was granted a provisional license by CAF to host international matches following the 2018 ban.
The government invested over E67 million towards the refurbishment of the country’s football mecca.
