Kendrick Lamar has added another milestone to his decorated career, winning his second Emmy Award for his electrifying Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.

The Compton rapper, who first claimed an Emmy in 2022 for his role in the star-studded Super Bowl LVI performance alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent, returned to the NFL stage earlier this year with a historic solo set.

Lamar’s halftime show drew an unprecedented 133.5 million viewers, surpassing Michael Jackson’s long-standing record from 1993 by a narrow margin of 100,000. His setlist spanned career-defining hits including HUMBLE., DNA., Euphoria, and the viral diss track Not Like Us—the latter of which was later cited in Drake’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group.

The performance earned Lamar and musical director Tony Russell the Emmy for Outstanding Music Direction, as confirmed by Pitchfork. The show was also nominated in several other categories, including Outstanding Choreography (Variety/Reality), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, and Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

Beyond his Emmy win, Lamar continues to dominate the charts. He remains the only rapper in 2025 to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 every week of the year, fueled by the success of his GNX collaborations such as Luther featuring SZA, TV Off, Peekaboo, and Not Like Us.

The Emmy marks yet another high point in a year that has seen Lamar break records, spark global conversations, and further cement his place as one of hip-hop’s defining voices.
