Maignan avoids serious injury in Milan’s win over Bologna
AC Milan confirmed on Monday that goalkeeper Mike Maignan has avoided a repeat of the calf tear which sidelined him from the 2022 World Cup.
The French shot-stopper was forced off just seven minutes into the second half of Milan’s 1-0 Serie A victory over Bologna on Sunday, with Pietro Terracciano coming on in his place.

Medical tests carried out on Monday morning ruled out a major injury, easing fears of a long layoff. Milan also announced that defender Strahinja Pavlovic escaped a serious thigh problem. Both players will continue to be monitored daily.
Maignan, 30, has endured multiple fitness setbacks since joining the Rossoneri in 2021. His previous calf tear kept him out for months and cost him a place in France’s squad for their run to the Qatar 2022 final.
France are preparing for 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month against Iceland and Ukraine, with Didier Deschamps’ men currently leading Group D.
Milan’s narrow win was sealed by Luka Modric, who netted his first goal for the club in the 61st minute since arriving as a free agent this summer. Massimiliano Allegri’s side sit fifth in Serie A on six points, level with Roma—who were stunned 1-0 at home by Torino—and newly promoted Cremonese.
