Dublin Airport terminal reopens after precautionary evacuation

Dublin Airport’s Terminal 2 has reopened after being evacuated earlier on Saturday as a precaution during a security incident.

The airport confirmed flights resumed at about 2:30pm, though passengers were warned of possible delays and “temporary disruption” for the remainder of the day.

Authorities did not disclose the cause of the evacuation, but stressed that “the safety and security of our passengers and staff is our absolute priority.” Gardaí were present at the airport during the incident, according to the Irish Examiner.

Officials added there was no indication the evacuation was linked to the cyberattack that disrupted several European airports, though Dublin Airport has reported minor knock-on effects from the continent-wide software issue.

Travellers are being urged to continue checking with their airlines for the latest flight information.
