Donations pour in for disqualified Army hopeful

Donations from compassionate Emaswati are pouring in for Sonkhe Mabuza, the man who was disqualified from the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) recruitment exercise at Mafutseni Constituency for being overage.
Mabuza was disqualified on Saturday after it was discovered that he was 40 years old, yet the cut-off age for the army hopefuls was 35.
Mabuza confirmed that he was receiving donations from various Emaswati through electronic transfers such as Ewallet and Mobile Money.
his came after one compassionate Liswati donated E200 to Mabuza and further posted his (Mabuza’s) contacts on Facebook, and requested others to follow suit.
From there, donations began to pour in for Mabuza from a number of Emaswati, who stated that this was their way of sympathising with him for being disqualified from the recruitment exercise due to his age, yet desperation was written all over his face that he dearly needed the job.
Mabuza stated that during the interview with this reporter yesterday at around 2pm, he had received about E4 220 from Emaswati in respect of the donations.
The soft-spoken Mabuza, who highlighted that he had a wife and two children, who were dependent on him, yet he did not have steady job, stated that he really needed the job in the army, so that he could provide for his family.
He pointed out that he was lost for words to express his heartfelt appreciation to all Emaswati, who extended a helping hand to him.
“This showed me that there are still compassionate people out there, who will stand by your side during the darkest moments of your life as a person,” he said.
Mabuza mentioned that he will use the donated money to start a Mobile Money business, so that he could have a steady source of income, with which he will be in a position to take care of his family.
