Manchester United lifted some of the pressure on head coach Ruben Amorim with a tense 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a dramatic contest at Old Trafford that saw both teams finish with 10 men.
United stormed ahead early in torrential rain after Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was dismissed just four minutes in for bringing down Bryan Mbeumo outside the box. The hosts capitalised ruthlessly, with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro striking before half-time to put them in command.

But momentum shifted on the stroke of the interval when Casemiro, already booked, was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Andrey Santos, leaving United to play the entire second half a man light. Chelsea eventually pulled one back through Trevoh Chalobah late on, but despite mounting pressure, the visitors couldn’t break United’s near 13-year stranglehold over them at Old Trafford.
The win, though nervy, marked Amorim’s first back-to-back Premier League home victories since taking charge. While United’s second-half display was far from convincing, the three points provide much-needed relief and keep Chelsea’s long wait for an Old Trafford triumph alive.
