The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is rapidly shaping the future of education and youth empowerment in Eswatini, positioning itself as a beacon of innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development.

This was underscored by Prime Minister Russell Dlamini during the graduation ceremony, where he highlighted the university’s pivotal role in advancing the nation’s development goals.

Addressing graduates and attendees, the premier emphasised that Limkokwing University stands as a key partner in realising His Majesty’s vision for Eswatini’s transformation.

He described the institution as “an established and well-known TVET model institution,” committed to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also ready to meet industry demands through a unique blend of creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship.

With youth unemployment in Eswatini hovering around 58 per cent, the Prime Minister pointed out the critical importance of institutions like Limkokwing in equipping young people with the mindset and skills to transcend traditional employment pathways.

“Limkokwing graduates do not have to seek a job, they should create jobs,” he asserted, urging the youth to become “fearless innovators who see opportunity where others see obstacles.”

The Prime Minister linked the university’s mission directly to the country’s overarching development frameworks, including the National Development Plan, the ‘Nkwe’ Programme of Action, and the Grand Plan for National Transformation.

These strategic plans embody His Majesty’s vision for Eswatini to become a first-world country. To achieve this, the government must invest heavily in education, healthcare, wealth creation, and employment opportunities to ensure the well-being of every citizen.

“This noble vision requires that as a government, we must adequately invest in the education of our citizens, provide affordable healthcare, create wealth and employment for all, and ensure the well-being of every liSwati,” the Prime Minister explained, emphasising the collective responsibility of government, private sector, academia, and citizens in driving national transformation.

A distinctive feature of Limkokwing University’s approach is its deliberate integration of entrepreneurial training across all its programmes. This ensures that graduates are not only creative thinkers but also equipped to transform their ideas into sustainable business ventures.

The Prime Minister noted that this educational model “aligns perfectly with our national goal of building a Government-led, private-sector-driven economy that creates jobs and wealth for all.”

Limkokwing’s impact extends beyond entrepreneurship; it has played a transformative role in shifting public attitudes toward vocational and technical education.

Once perceived as a secondary option, technical and creative education is now recognised as a strategic pathway to personal and national prosperity.

The Prime Minister highlighted that by embracing these skills, “our young people can now drive innovation and productivity across all sectors, making Eswatini more self-reliant and globally competitive.”

The university’s academic offerings also bolster emerging sectors such as Hospitality, Tourism, and the Arts, while fostering critical skills in Graphic Design, Creative Multimedia, and Digital Technologies.

These areas are vital for business transformation and adaptation in a rapidly evolving global market. By employing young professionals as faculty members, Limkokwing fosters a culture of innovation, creativity, and relevance.

This youthful and forward-thinking environment ensures that graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the 21st-century economy. ?
