Minister Mandla Tshawuka emphasised that farming is no longer a traditional activity but a meaningful economic opportunity that can change lives.

Addressing the nation, he explained that agriculture has transformed significantly over the years and now offers profitable prospects for those who take it seriously.

He encouraged young people to consider farming as a career path instead of limiting their ambitions to urban employment. The Minister said the country needs energetic and innovative minds in the fields to drive productivity and modernise agricultural practices.

He highlighted that every investment put into farming yields impressive returns, stating that every lilangeni spent has the potential to return fifty.

According to the Minister, this simple but powerful calculation shows the profitability of agriculture when managed properly.

He encouraged farmers to adopt better production techniques, use improved seed varieties and embrace government programmes that provide training and support.

He said these strategies will help farmers increase productivity and capture more value from their land.

The Minister also spoke about the importance of communities supporting local farmers by buying locally grown produce. He explained that this strengthens local markets and motivates farmers to expand production.
