The Minister of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), Savannah Maziya, has launched a national training programme aimed at equipping 300,000 emaSwati with coding skills.
The initiative, which was announced today, is a partnership between Eswatini and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It provides free training and concludes with a globally recognised certification. Applications for the course are now open through the official website: coderseswatini.gov.sz.
The programme forms part of government’s broader digital transformation strategy, which seeks to prepare citizens for opportunities in the global digital economy.
Coding, often referred to as the language of the future, has become a key skill in industries ranging from technology and finance to health, education, and agriculture.

The UAE has been at the forefront of digital innovation, investing heavily in artificial intelligence, blockchain, and smart government systems.
Through this collaboration, Eswatini aims to leverage international expertise to build a strong base of digital talent locally.
Maziya said the initiative was a milestone in Eswatini’s efforts to bridge the digital skills gap and empower citizens with tools that would make them competitive in the global workforce.
She added that the course would be accessible to both beginners and individuals with prior knowledge of coding, ensuring inclusivity across different age groups and educational backgrounds.
The training is expected to open up employment opportunities in the growing technology sector while also supporting innovation and entrepreneurship within Eswatini.
